How do I make my website show up in ChatGPT?

You cannot force ChatGPT to mention your site. You can make the page easy to fetch and easy to understand.

You cannot buy a switch that puts your site in ChatGPT. ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok decide what to say. Sometimes they browse. Sometimes they answer from older training. Sometimes they do not mention sources at all.

What you can do is make a page that is allowed, easy to fetch, and easy to understand. That raises the chance that a tool which does browse can use it. It is not a guarantee.

Let the crawlers in

Check robots.txt at the root of your site. If it says Disallow: / for everyone, crawlers are told to stay out. If it names GPTBot, ClaudeBot, or Google-Extended and blocks them, those crawlers are told to stay out.

A block does not erase what a model already learned. It can stop a fresh visit. If you want visits, allow those bots.

Also check for a noindex tag on the page. A page that says noindex is asking not to be listed.

Say what the page is

Give the page one clear title and one meta description. Use one H1 that matches the topic. Use real sentences in HTML. Do not put the only explanation inside a picture.

Add structured data (schema.org JSON-LD) so the page states what it is. A local business, an article, or a product are common types. Broken JSON is ignored, so check the commas.

Point tools at your best pages

Add a sitemap.xml and list it in robots.txt. Add an llms.txt file that links to the pages you most want understood. Keep those pages public. A login wall hides them from crawlers.

Answer a real question on the page, in plain words. Tools quote pages that state the answer. They struggle with pages that only say "Welcome" and "Learn more".

What this will not do

It will not promise a mention in ChatGPT. It will not promise a Google ranking. A findability scan can show whether the page is readable and allowed. It cannot see inside a model, and it cannot see your Google Search Console data.

If you want a checklist for one page, run a ReachSeen scan. The free scan shows two scores and the top 3 issues. The full report lists every issue we find and a fix for each. You pay first. Then that scan runs.
